It’s been 12 days since the government launches self quarantine to decrease the spread of Covid-19. Schools, universities, and office are temporary closure and start to did a #WorkFromHome campaign. But, there’s people who forced to go out from their own house to keep body and soul together. They earn money per day, so there’s a lot of reason for not only stayed at home. Seems like some sellers in one of Sukabumi night market too.

Pasundan market, is one of night market that located in Sukabumi that sell a lot of foods  or daily needs like vegetables, seasoning, fruits, sugar, and other agricultural produce. Usually this market rolled as the wholesaler so the buyers will resell their commodity they have been bought tomorrow, at day market.

It is located at Jalan Lettu Bakrie No.25 Nyomplong Kecamatan Warudoyong, Sukabumi. Pasundan night market still actively operate while Covid-19 pandemic plague, there are some reason for the seller to survive, beside of they need money, this market stand as the most important placed to get a commodity for the other market. But, we realize that there are some caused by Covid-19 pandemic. 3 main commodities, garlic, shallot, and onion’s price skyrocket.

Shallot
Garlic

Garlic’s price increase up to Rp 13.000 from Rp 20.000 to Rp 33.000 per Kg. The prices been getting high since the outbreak of the corona virus, which is it was detected first in the city of Wuhan, in China, as we know that we imported garlic from China. And then shallot’s price getting up to Rp 4.000 from Rp 20.000 to Rp 24.000. And other imported commodity, onion, reported not available per March, 25th.

“Onion increase cause we wait for panen raya on the 8th month of the year. We don’t have any supply at this time.” Said Sarwono, one of Vegetables seller at Pasundan market. We predict, that the market will be normally again on Ramadhan till 1 week after Eid.

“Its getting quiet day by day!” Said Sarwono again. Knowing the supply of some commodity diminish and the market getting quiet since beginning of February because of the rains and getting worse by Covid-19 pandemic.
